Fernando Jose Cubias
Our precious baby Fernando lost his battle with congenital heart disease on November 30th, 2008. After surviving three procedures to correct the anomalies in his little heart, he returned home to grow and gain strength in preparation for his fourth, very complex heart surgery. Unable to continue his struggle to live, Fernando passed away in his mother’s arms leaving a huge void in her heart and many others.
In ten short months, this precious child touched the hearts of many people around the world. He has shown us that help is needed NOW. For many children, a few months is too long to wait for help.
During our visit with Fernando’s mother, Jessica, the first week of February 2009, she asked that we help express her deepest gratitude to everyone who helped try to save her son’s life. She wanted everyone to know that not only could she not have afforded to get help for her child without your support, but she felt the love and comfort of people praying for Fernando around the world. Although Jessica misses her son very much, she knows that he is in a better place where he will have no more pain and suffering. Jessica hopes that Fernando’s short time on this earth will, in some way, help save the lives of other children waiting for heart surgery.
On behalf of Jessica and everyone at the Music for Heart Foundation, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who played a role in trying to save Fernando’s life including those who donated funds and services, those who prayed, those who provided comfort, support and accommodations during their stay in Colombia, the doctors and medical staff in Colombia, those who provided support to them in El Salvador and those who provided support to us here in the U.S.A.
